Seasons of Life...

I always thought the song, "Seasons of Love" from Rent was "Seasons of Life." So, yeah, my title doesn't exactly match! Not knowing what I'm singing is the story of my life though. I rarely (read never) know what the lyrics are in songs, but happily sing along with my own lyrics.

This weekend started out with a spur of the moment trip to the Bay Area on Friday night. But we didn't get far before I needed to stop to buy some chocolate coconut water. My cousin Brittany got me hooked on it!

Thanks to our friends, Jessica and Andy (Polish and Pout) we feel like family to Andy's parents. They've opened their home to us and have let us stay with them twice. Every time we're with them, Anthony and I feel like they've rolled out the red carpet for us. They cook amazing meals, share their life stories, listen to ours, and all around make us feel so accepted and loved.

View from the Palmers' house!

Since we were in the East Bay, we met up with the Inks for a little food truck lunch. After standing in line for Senor Sisig 3 times, we decided to take a walk along the shore line. It was at this time, that I had to laugh about the fact that their littlest child, said, "Daddy, look, there's an XB!" How he knew there was a Scion XB passing is still beyond me.

We followed up our lunch with an afternoon of shopping for iPhones, drinking coffee, making cards, and trying to record a vlog. If you were a fly on the wall at the Inks' house that day, you would have laughed. We never finish a conversation before we go on to the next!

Yesterday (Sunday) we got to see tons of family. I made a chocolate cake for my Grandma's 86th Birthday. I was proud of the fact that it turned out even though I used coconut oil and primarily white whole wheat flour.

The happiest moment was when I got to feel my little niece kick! Isn't my sister just beautiful?

Our church moved buildings yesterday afternoon.

I never knew that genealogies mattered in the Bible, until Rick (our pastor) introduced the book of Matthew. Did you know that there are 5 women listed in Jesus's family line? And nearly all of them were shady (as in prostitutes)! Rick said that God is able to use anybody to bring about His purposes.

Nothing can thwart the plan of God in our lives. He is in control and sovereign. God will even use the depravity of man to establish His purposes. I love that reminder. Often I think that if I don't make the right choice, it will haunt me forever. But knowing that God always sees the future, I can trust that His ways will work out...even when I don't think they will.

We also visited with my inlaws last night. My father-in-law Scott is so awesome. As he was listening to our recent adventures, he said, "life is full of seasons. You move from one to another. This season you can go to the Bay Area whenever you want. The next season of life might not be the same way." That got me thinking about seasons of life and I really am happy with where we are right now.

What season of life are you in?

What a great reminder! I'm partial to consistency...change isn't always my favorite thing, but as I'm getting slightly older :) I'm realizing that the different seasons in life always hold something beautiful and add to my life in an unexpected way. Josh and I were talking the other day about how blessed we feel to have you two as friends.

Jodi summed up my thoughts on change much better than I could have in my own words. Sounds like a full and happy weekend. :)

Yes- seasons of life- such a good reminder that hard times are temporary and that wonderful times should be cherished.

Have you heard of the Francine Rivers lineage of grace series? Each book is about one of the women in the lineage of Jesus. I haven't read them all but gave been thinking about picking then back up.
