Five Minute Friday: Story

I'm joining Lisa-Jo (aka The Gypsy Mama) for Five Minute Friday. This is when we write for 5 minutes without over-thinking or changing what we've written. Lisa-Jo provides the word and other writers link up their "word-of-the-day" posts. I think my writing is getting better because of this free-style exercise! Today's word is: STORY.

(This is what I think I look like when I'm listening to a story)

The lyrics from an old hymn "I love to tell the story, will be my theme in glory" just popped in to my head when I saw the prompt for today's post.

I love stories. I think we all do. That's what makes us human beings. I like knowing where you've come from, what your family was like, what you ate growing up, the things you like to do, etc.

But even more than that, I like to know what your story is about faith. Do you have a faith in someone larger than yourself? If not, how come?

Lately, I've been captivated by non-fiction books. I can't tell you how much I've enjoyed Modern Mrs. Darcy's Ultimate Beach Reading list. I literally just finished another book off the list. The books I'm enjoying most are people's stories: The Perfect Storm, Garlic & Sapphires, & My Life in France.

What is the story I'm creating? Will my life's story matter to other people? I sure hope so.

The next time I see you, be prepared, I'm going to ask you what your story is. And don't worry, I'll be patient while you think of what it is you want to share.
